Volunteer

There are many ways to contribute to the work of Families for Safe Streets PDX. Volunteers help us remember people affected by traffic violence, advocate for safer streets, organize events, and strengthen our community.

You don't need to be a transportation expert or have previous advocacy experience. If you care about preventing traffic deaths and serious injuries, we welcome your involvement.

Memorial Projects

Help us honor people killed in traffic crashes through memorial projects across Portland. Volunteers may assist with memorial signs, ghost bikes, the Portland Victims' Memorial, and other remembrance efforts that ensure people are remembered as individuals, not statistics.

World Day of Remembrance

Each year, Families for Safe Streets PDX joins communities around the world in observing the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims on the third Sunday in November.

Volunteers can help plan and support Portland's observance, including event preparation, outreach, and activities on the day of the event.

Advocacy and Civic Engagement

Help make the voices of people affected by traffic violence heard. Opportunities may include providing testimony, contacting public officials, attending public meetings, supporting advocacy campaigns, and helping community members understand proposed transportation policies.
