He was blessed with a great sense of humor, intelligence, and compassion. Using the same route to work he'd used for years, he was struck and killed by a motorist on a rainy Monday morning. Seamus was born on Christmas day, 2008. He quickly grew into a tank of a toddler, with huge feet, curly blonde hair, and a pot belly that peeked out from beneath his t-shirts. He loved animals, being outside, looking at the "big moon," and eating pizza. In November, 2010, Seamus and his dad Eric were walking home from the grocery store when they were struck by a careless driver in a crosswalk. Eric survived, but Seamus died the following day. We remember him when we look at the moon, and any time we see a "buddy buddy" (his word for butterfly).

Mark graduated with a major in chemistry and had been recognized as one of Reed's "12 for 15" as a result of his many achievements. Mark's family shared the following statement with the Reed College community: *Mark was the best kind of person. He was passionate and driven, but at the same time incredibly loving. He made it his mission every single day to simply love people, in whatever way that looked like. He had eyes that could always see the good in other people, even when all they could see was bad. He was a true and unique light to this world, and he will be sorely missed. Thank you, Mark, for touching lives simply by being yourself.*

Sarah Pliner, 50
Bicyclist
SE Powell and SE 26th
10/04/2022, 11:49
Sarah was a well-known and beloved chef. She moved to Portland from New York City in 1990 after graduating from high school. She attended Reed College, but dropped out and started working at restaurants. She found a spot in the esteemed kitchen of The Heathman Hotel, which was her first big opportunity in the world of fine dining. From there she traveled back to New York to gain experience working alongside notable chefs before returning to Portland a few years later. She opened Aviary in 2011 and it put Sarah on the map — although she never sought the limelight. Aviary closed in 2020 during the pandemic. After which Sarah became chef at Fullerton Wines and also cooked at Bluto’s on SE Belmont. She was on her way to Bluto’s when she was hit. At the time of her death, Sarah was dreaming of owning her own restaurant again.\ Source: Jonathan Maus *[BikePortland ](https://bikeportland.org/2022/10/05/sarah-pliners-sister-and-friend-share-memories-of-a-life-cut-short-364843)*
